LOCAL SWIMMING CLUB IS SWIMMING 5K FOR CHARITY AS SWIMATHON AIMS TO RAISE OVER £2 MILLION IN 2019!
Swimathon, the world’s biggest annual fundraising swim, has raised a staggering £50 million in the 30 years since it began, and local students who swim with Borehamwood Swimming Club will be aiming to help Swimathon raise even more by taking on the 5k challenge!
Following on from the determination and spectacular swimming shown in our recent in house style competition; the ‘Fred Pretty Award’ swimmers are now training for an upcoming development meet in Stevenage.
Other swimmers look forward to participating in the Swimathon later in the year
The 2019 event takes place over three days from 29th – 31st March. Previously Swimathon has attracted over 700,000 swimmers across the UK raising money for charity, and this year welcomes back Marie Curie and Cancer Research UK as its joint charity partners.
This is a great opportunity for the swimmers to not only practise their swimming but also a great opportunity to raise funds for two spectacular causes
The joint charity partners of Swimathon 2019 are Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie.
Cancer Research UK, the world’s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research, will be involved in Swimathon for the first time.
Marie Curie, the UK’s leading charity for people with any terminal illness and their families, has been Swimathon’s charity partner ten times since it launched in 1986 and has raised over £17 million for the charity through the event during that time.
